크리스마스 즈음에 미국을 갔을때 공원에서 공연을 하고 있었다. 공연이라고 하기에는 좀 많이 부족한 모습이었다. 10대 초 중반의 여학생들이 나와서 크리스마스 노래를 합창으로 부르는 공연인데 반주는 녹음된 테이프로 할아버지가 수동으로 틀어주는 수준이었다.
어둠이 내린 공원에 그곳 주민들이 오며가며 보는 그런 공연이었다. 그때 들었던 노래가 Beautiful Star of Bethlehem 이었다.
크리스마스 시즌이 다가오면 이 노래가 생각난다.

I have been to U.S.A about Christmas season a few years ago, I had a chance to see a performance held at the park.
The performance was so poor. A group of girls sang the song to celebrate christmas. An old man assisted the performance by playing a casettape player.
It was early evening and lots of people saw the performance. I was one of those people. I heard the song "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem"
Whenever christmans season begins, I remember the song.
